Possum Point Location: Virginia Operator: Dominion Virginia Power Configuration: 1 X 114 MW, 1 X 239 MW, 1 X 882 MW Operation: 1957-1974 Fuel: fuel oil, natural gas Boiler supplier: CE T/G supplier: GE EPC: Stone & Webster, Brown & Root Quick facts: Possum Point is on a 650ac site where Quantico Creek enters the Potomac River south of Washington DC. After completion of a new 14mi pipeline, Units 3&4 were converted from coal-firing to natural gas in May 2003. Unit-5 is a sister unit to Yorktown-3 and both are fueled with heavy oil. These are among the largest oil-fired units in the USA. A 550-MW gas-fired CCGT block was added at Possum Point in Jul 2003. Photograph
