Quick facts: This wind plant is on 12,500ac in central Kansas. Construction began in Jun 2007 after 4yrs of planning with landowners and local authorities. The plant was built in two phases and inaugurated in Oct 2008. It was developed by TradeWind Energy. Output is sold to Kansas Board of Public Utilities, Midwest Energy, and Sunflower Electric Coop, and the cities of Independence and Springfield, Missouri. The wind park is connected to a nearby 230kV line.
