Quick facts: As MSW production was exceeding combustion and handling capacity, Århus municipality tendered for an extension to the existing WTE plant. In Aug 1999, COWI, Bruun & Sørensen Group, and architects Friis & Moltke won the competition subsequently designed and procured the project. In Apr 2009, Götaverken installed its ADIOX scrubber condensers on the second unit. This extracts an additional 3 MW of heat from the incineration process.
