Quick Facts: This WTE plant is 15km from Perpignan. SYDETOM 66 is a regional waste collection association covering the municipalities in the eastern Pyrenees with around 400,000 inhabitants. It was set up in 1996 and developed the Calce site on a BOT basis making the award to CYDEL, a 100% subsidiary of Tiru. A sorting center opened in Feb 2002 and the power station was commissioned in Jul 2003. Design throughput is 179,000 tpy of of household waste, wastewater sludge, and hospital waste, and 30,000 tpy from other collections. Three deep wells supply all needed water for the facility. There are currently two lines in operation and the site was sized for addition of a third line.

Quick Facts: Over half of this state-of-the-art facility is built underground. Its design and engineering features were designed to minimize local environmental and aesthetic impacts. The plant is to be commissioned before the end of 2007. Design throughput is 460,000 tpy of MSW. SYCTOM was formed in 1984 and is the largest household waste treatment association in France serving Paris and 88 municipalities of the Petite Couronne region with over 5.5mn people. In total, annual waste handled is about 2.7mn tpy.

The waste company was formed in 1973 and serves 51 communes. This plant processes about 132,000 tpy of household and commercial waste. Poewr production in 2005 was 28 GWh.
